Eva Sigurðardóttir

I have been traveling around Iceland since I was a little girl. Being out in the nature, experiencing something new and exciting is the most amazing feeling in the world.
Ever since I had my first trip abroad, I knew that traveling and tourism industry was something I wanted to do.

As soon as graduated high school I wanted to go travel and experience something new, meet new people and get to know different cultures. I lived for 6 months in Spain and 4 years in Sweden where I was able to meet people from all around the world and broaden my horizon to different cultures and people.

What places and activities do you specialize in?

""Iceland Untouched specialize in tours all around Iceland. We are great admirers of nature and we seek every opportunity to get the "alone in the world experience" wherever we are. We only operate with private small groups and self drives through local people with emphasis on luxury and high quality local products and services around the island that give our customers a better understanding of the Icelandic way of life, our history, our traditions and our untouched nature.""

How did you get involved in travel?

"I did my bachelor and master’s degree in tourism and hospitality since I wanted to specialize in that field. I worked as a flight attendant with my studies to be able to travel around the world and get to meet new people and experiences.

Having experienced traveling around the world I really felt the desire to introduce tourist to Iceland and all the amazing adventures and untouched nature Iceland has to offer.
"

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"When me and my family were driving around the south coast of Spain and our car broke down in the middle of nowhere, we walked back to a small village we had recently driven past. Hardly anyone was around. We meet one Spanish man that spoke no English at all, he took us to this small cozy restaurant close by, which was his. He insisted that we had something to eat and he made us this lovely meal and treated us like family. His kindness and hospitality were beyond something we had ever experienced before. While we ate, he had his friend pick up our car to look at it. He manages to fix our car and when we were about to leave, we wanted to pay for all this trouble, but they would not let us. I will always remember the kindness of these men."

Iceland: Snaefellsnes Peninsula, Golden Circle, South Coast, Westman Islands, & Thorsmork - 10 Days

In 10 days, discover the highlights of five areas in Iceland. Prepare for minimal driving, thanks to the close proximity of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, a ferry trip to the beautiful islands, and on-foot exploration in Thorsmork. Embark on a number of great hikes—from breathtaking coasts and cliffs to lava fields, and through lush valleys and scenic glaciers. This trip is a great way to balance out visiting popular areas (including the Golden Circle) with lesser-known destinations (like the Westman Islands).

Reynisfjara Beach, along Iceland's South Coast
Iceland Highlights: South Coast, Westman Islands, & Thorsmork - 7 Days

Visit several scenic areas on this weeklong trip to Iceland. Encounter stunning waterfalls, geothermal areas, black-sand beaches, glaciers and more in the Golden Circle and South Coast. Venture to local gem, the Westman Islands, to enjoy the historic beach tours (there’s an active puffin colony in the summer months). Then, embark on an incredible hiking journey through the valleys and peaks of Thorsmork, before returning to Reykjavik for some enjoyment in the capital city.

Glymur Falls
Classic Iceland Ring Road Drive - 7 Days

Drive Iceland's famous Ring Road on this quick, seven-day trip designed for warmer travel (so there are no slowdowns due to weather and lack of daylight in the winter). Head south to the most-visited highlights—massive waterfalls, black-sand beaches, and glaciers. Enjoy the scenic route through the East Fjords, before arriving at Lake Myvatn, surrounded by geothermal and volcanic wonders. Join a whale-watching trip from Husavik, the whale watching capital, and spend time in Reykjavik exploring the best of the city, along with enjoying a soak in the Blue Lagoon.

Katla Ice Cave- under the Volcano
Iceland

This tour was a negligent disaster from start to finish. A 3 hour tour that consumed 9+ hours. The van was not properly equipped to handle the snow on the way to the cave. Consequently we got stuck and were pulled out dozens of times. It took over 6 hours to get to the ice cave after the sun had already gone down. During that time the driver provided no updates and refused to turn around even after being asked to do so when it had become apparent that we were well beyond the time allotted for the tour. At the ice cave we were not provided with either the helmets or head lamps other groups were using. As a result, we fumbled around in the dark. And the only provisions were one snack size bag of peanuts and a snack size bag of raisins that were shared by 13 people. We were towed out the entire way to the road, otherwise it would have taken us the same amount of time to get out of there.

Overall, the planning and support by Eva of Iceland Untouched was terrific. We had a small hiccup in that the airport transfer for one of two couples on arrival never showed due to a travel agent miscommunication, but was remedied quickly. If there were any complaints, I would say there was very little down time. We were constantly moving in a hurry to keep on schedule. Because the days were planned around our ability to stay in certain hotels, when one hotel was unavailable, the driving went from 4 hs to 5 1/2 hrs on one day, which was very difficult.

Generally, our guides were excellent, except for one: Ricky, of Glacier Adventures, for our Ice Cave Expedition. He was always in a hurry (our hike from the van to the cave was done at a far faster than needed or normal pace) and he was void of personality. We were the last ones to check in at the facility because we had a 1 1/2 hour drive under normal conditions, but because of the hotel change, we had to leave the hotel well before sunrise and travel on icy roads, which slowed us down considerably. When we were boarding the van to depart Base Camp for the cave, my wife asked if she had time to use the restroom before departure. Ricky appeared irritated and anxious to leave. His response was ok, but there's always the river. My wife, sensing his desire to be on the road, climbed aboard. The ensuing expedition was not very comfortable for her.

If we were to do it again, we would work to limit the amount of driving and build in time each day for some relaxation, instead of always being in a rush.

Just returned from a brilliant trip to Iceland and have to thank Eva for putting together such a wonderful itinerary! As a "type A" trip planner kind of person, I am usually in charge of all of the details surrounding any trip we take as a family and/or with friends. That said, releasing everything to a stranger wasn't easy at first but the communication and suggestions from Eva quickly helped put me at ease. Hotels, tours, driving itineraries, etc - it was done with excellence and all there! She managed to fit in everything we requested and more in the 8 full days we had in Iceland and our tour around the ring road. Our only regret was that we didn't have more time to spend in her beautiful country!

One amazing detail Eva made happen was contacting her friend in Akuyeri to arrange a private opening of the Icelandic Aviation museum for my aviation obsessed father the day after his 75th birthday. Wow. That was above and beyond!

My wife also broke her foot a week before our trip and Eva was able to secure refunds for parts of the trip she couldn't participate in and provided great suggestions on how/where to navigate many of the places along the way so she could see as much as possible. Again, insights only an experienced local like Eva could provide.

All in all, dealing with Eva and KimKim was such a positive experience that I can see myself becoming a little less type A and using more of their services in the future! On behalf of myself, my wife, and my parents, thank you again for all you did to arrange and coordinate such a logistically seamless and wonderful trip for us!!!
