The drive through Dades valley was unbelievable through the mountains with great views of areas where some famous movies were shot. Stay at dar Rihanna was great again with exceptional food and service .

The guide in Chef chaouen une was a bit « insistant » to bring us to his friend the carpet salesman and we felt pretty sure he was getting a return on the sales!

Abdoul, our driver, made us feel at home from the moment he picked us up at the airport, until he saw us off to come back home. He was always warm, funny, kind and friendly and by far, one of the best drivers we've ever seen. His expertise was palpable at every moment of the trip. We just returned from a most excellent trip Morocco that was booked through KimKim. We appreciated having a local specialist who could help us choose what to see and how best to schedule. Mohamed was very quick to respond and kept us on track to get the vacation scheduled. The hotels that were selected were outstanding and exceeded our expectations. We especially liked our two tour guides in Marakkesh - one for a food tour (Hannan), and the other for a general tour of Marakkesh and the Old City (Abdal). Our driver for the week, Tarik, was friendly and helpful. He was great about communicating and coordinating between the different activities and the hotels. For example, on our final morning, we took a most amazing hot air balloon ride outside Marakkech with Mathieu as our pilot. Tarik knew what time our flight was and communicated directly with the hot air balloon company to make sure that we finished in enough time to make it to the airport on time. There were many moving parts to our vacation and multiple parties involved - the local tour company, our driver, different hotels and and guides for individual activities, but having it all organized through KimKim helped it feel seamless.
Four stars only because we ended up feeling a wee bit overscheduled. This was our first time in Morocco and going into the trip we did not understand how much driving time was needed between locations. However, given the complexity of the trip, we were overall very satisfied.

Amazing experience. The tents are luxurious - comfortable beds, running water (hot and cold!) and both showers and flushing toilets in each tent. Remarkable set up in a desert!! A separate full dining tent. Even heated mattress pads to keep us warm on a very cold night! The folks running the camp were welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed a drumming circle by a campfire after dinner. Wished we could have stayed a second night.

Out of all the hotels we stayed on our trip, this was not our favorite. The location was great, in the heart of the Fez medina. The lobby and inner courtyards were incredibly beautiful with a huge WOW factor. However, our room was very small and was an adjoining room to a larger suite (e.g. not enough room to open a suitcase on the floor). There was little to no soundproofing between the rooms, so we could hear things like light switches being turned on/off and our neighbor's electric toothbrush in the morning. There was only one very small window. The mattress was very hard, which may be typical, but nonetheless, it was not the best night's sleep. We changed rooms the second night, so it was not as noisy, but the second room was even smaller than the first. We could not get hot water in our room, no matter how long we ran the shower, so ended up showering in our kids' room. Food was excellent and the staff was very helpful.

AMAZING! Lovely, small hotel in the Dades Valley. Our rooms were beautifully decorated and spacious. There is a lovely rooftop deck and a beautiful pool in the courtyard. The food was amazing - definitely ranked as one of the best meals of our trip. The staff was so helpful and attended to our every need. My only regret is that we could not stay longer.

Lovely, tranquil spot with an excellent location in the medina. It truly felt like an oasis in the middle of the noise and chaos of the streets. Beautifully and elegantly decorated with an absolutely lovely rooftop deck. The rooms were spacious, clean and well appointed. We even had a Nespresso machine in the room, which felt like a real treat (although we take this for granted in the US, this did not seems to be common in Morocco). The spa looked clean and elegant - unfortunately, we had a hammam pre-booked elsewhere, but in hindsight, I wish we had booked this at the hotel. The food was excellent - on the final night of the trip, we had a most elegant dinner on the rooftop deck. Would absolutely stay here again!!

Highly, highly recommend. The camel ride was SO. MUCH. FUN. No better way to see the dunes than on the back of a camel. It was so quiet and peaceful compared to the 4-wheelers. Two hours of the 'camel massage' was definitely enough for my backside, but I would not recommend any other method of transport in the desert!!

Hike through Berber Villages & Lunch with Local Family

We arrived later than expected. However, our local guide made sure to feed us quickly (food was great) so that we had enough time for our hike before the sun set. He took us to see the local kasbahs and for a short hike through the 'monkey fingers' rock formations. Even though the sun had set, he instructed our driver to take us up the famous windy road into the Dades canyon area for a spectacular view over the valley. He was so friendly and welcoming. Would recommend!

Very long day in the car. Our driver made a few stops which helped to break up the day - a rose water cooperative, the Atlas Studio, the Aït Benhaddou kasbah and an argan oil cooperative. The day was already quite long, so we did not spend much time at each location. The drive through the Atlas mountains was absolutely spectacular, but we felt rushed because we wanted to get to Marakkech.

This place was very busy - probably saw 15 people (mostly tourists like us) cycle through while we were there for 1.5-2 hours. We had never been to a hammam before and felt a little unprepared as to what to wear - we ended up wearing our underwear bottoms only, but it would have been better to have a bathing suit bottom (and top if you are uncomfortable with a bare chest around strangers). Massage was OK.

The BEST. Don't miss this!! Very professional and we felt safe throughout the entire experience. Our pilot was French and very knowledgable. Other than when he was focused on flying, he spent lots of time explaining to us how the balloon worked and how he navigates. Scenery was spectacular. Highly, highly recommend.

Said and Abdel put together an itinerary that allowed us to cover a lot of places and still give us sufficient time to explore places by ourselves.

The trip - The trip was amazing, covering the imperial cities with stopover in the desert and Atlas mountains. The itinerary and hotels/Riads selected by Original Travels were great - particularly the camp in the desert and the Riad in Marrakech. The local guides from Hafid in Fes to Hannan in Marrakech were knowledgeable, friendly, and ensured that we learned about the history and culture of the great cities. We were able to cover quite a bit of ground thanks to their encyclopedic knowledge of the amazingly complex Medinas.

But if we had to single out one individual who made our trip a success, it would be Faissal - a tour de force combination of driver, fashion icon, food critic, guide, and overall great guy! First and foremost, he provided safe and comfortable transportation getting us to places on time. But he was so much more than just that. He provided us with a lot of information about each place we drove through, picked out amazing places for meals, and would always point us to the best places for views and pictures. He kept us engaged and entertained, and was focussed on ensuring a great experience for us. He even saved the day by managing to retrieve my iPods that I had left behind in a hotel a hundred miles away. We highly highly recommend him!

My absolute favorite of all things about my trip was my most amazing, kind and capable driver Soufian. It was such a joy to see him every day. He is a natural, capable driver and I could not have asked for a better match. He and I. I loved his company and he totally took care of whatever need I had. Soufian arrived each morning with a smile and always right on time. He is the best! A perfect driver and a special man. A special new friend for sure. He MADE my trip amazing. Next up- we stayed at the Inara Camp in Agafay. The camp was gorgeous and the service was impeccable. Seeing the sunrise on camel back is an experience I will never forget.
Finally- we made our way to the Atlas Mountains and stayed at Kasbah Tamadot. The hotel is one of the nicest ones I have ever stayed in. The grounds are breathtaking, the service was top notch and the people were so nice. They attended to our every need. We had a local guide, Jose take us around the villages with mules. We ate lunch with a local Berber family and were welcomed into their home. It was so wonderful to meet the local people and see into their day to day lives.

Honestly, this vacation was one of the best that we have ever taken. Our driver, Samir, was with us the entire time and he was incredible. Our tour coordinator, Said- made adjustments for us on the fly and was always only a call or text away. We will definitely be going back and we will definitely use this company, Original Travels, again.

Working with Mohamed and Said through kimkim to plan our trip to Morocco was seamless. They answered our (many) questions promptly and went out of their way to accommodate all of our itinerary changes and special requests - both before we left and once we landed.

We travelled to Morocco for 12 days and covered a lot of ground! The highlights were definitely seeing the sand dunes in Merzouga as well as the beautiful cities of Chefchaouen, Fez, and Marrakesh. At each of our locations, Mohamed and Said arranged for us to stay in spectacular riads, specifically in Chefchaouen and Skoura and the amazing Hotel de Arabe in Marrakech whose hamam was beyond!

Most importantly, our trip would not have been the same if not for our AMAZING driver Ilyace. Throughout our 12 days together he was an absolute pleasure; quite apart from being the world’s smoothest driver he is kind, engaging, informative, has a huge heart and a great sense of humour.
He shared a lot of interesting information about the country, answered our countless questions about all things Morocco and was incredibly accommodating and flexible when we wanted to make impromptu stops, spend more or less time at different places.

Front desk staff was pleasant, the room was clean and bed comfortable but this hotel, that aspires to look modern - is dark and dim. Rooms are spacious but plumbing was poor (sink barely drained) and tbh, in 2022 no hotel room should have carpeted floors. When we arrived in the early evening (after a long day of driving) we were told that we could get something to eat on the rooftop patio. This turned out to be essentially a smokers lounge with a pool - positioned in the middle of the patio - empty of water. Location is central. Hotel lobby and rooms were heavily scented.

We LOVED this Riad. While we stayed at several beautiful places on our trip, Samina, Greggy and the rest of the staff at Riad Chbanate were beyond wonderful. Personable and kind, they made us feel incredibly welcome - just like family. For breakfast, there is no menu, just the hosts, asking what you would like to eat and accommodating any and all requests and restrictions. Homemade breakfasts made in the kitchen (open for all to see on the main floor - just like home - what could be better?!) To boot, staff made excellent resto suggestions and very generously invited our two adult sons to join us for breakfast ( who were staying at a nearby hostel)! Rooms are spacious, immaculate, beautifully decorated and have fantastic bathrooms with huge tubs and showers. A very special place - and definitely our favourite Riad of the vacation.

The grounds of this hotel, are like like something out of a magazine. Every imaginable kind of fruit tree grows around a lovely, oversized, pool in the center of the massive garden. Rooms are comfortable, clean and have lovely touches but a little tired. As we only stayed overnight (arriving late in the evening and leaving early in the morning) we were only sorry that we did not have a chance to stay longer, to spend time in the gardens and make use of the Riad’s lovely hamam and pool.

In the evening we sat around the campfire with our host and had wonderful conversations with him about Berber culture, history and traditions. This Riad and its grounds were incredibly beautiful. Unlike many other accommodations in the city it is located up on the hill with unreal views of Chefchaouen. No need to go for a hike elsewhere to see the sunset or sunrise! So, if mobility is an issue this is not the place to stay. There are about 150 stairs up to the Riad - but the view is well worth it. Rooms are sumptuously decorated and large and have amazing balconies that look out to the city. Restaurant was delicious.

La Maison Arabe Hotel

This was by far my favorite hotel on our trip. The maison is spectacular. Service is top notch and comparable with any five star hotel anywhere. Despite its size, hotel has a very personal, warm approach, and excellent staff who go out of their way for hotel guests. Facilities are beyond beautiful and the breakfast - served in a gorgeous courtyard - was fantastic. Rooms are large and bed was the most comfortable one of our trip (ditto the uber-cushy slippers and robes). I waited until we got to this hotel for my hammam and it was well worth the wait. The hammam is gorgeous, and the treatment heavenly. Yes, I’m gushing, but this hotel is gush-worthy.

It would have been nice if our guide, Hanan, had asked us for feedback about the food we had eaten since we had arrived, and/or what we were interested in eating, or trying. Essentially, they were a set number of stops in the Medina which she had planned in advance, and much of the food we had during the “tour” we had already eaten during our time in Morocco. There was only one “stop” (of five) that was a unique and tasty experience. One example: our guide stopped at a bakery and selected a number of cookies for us to eat. When I saw what she was doing, I went into the bakery, and asked about some of the items, but at no point did she ask me for input or if I thought there was anything we wanted to try. Similarly, she was aware that we had drank fresh juices earlier in the trip but still ended the tour with a trip to the juice counters - as this was something she had decided in advance we were going to do. It felt very routine and impersonal.

Essaouira to Casablanca via Eljadida Coastal Route

This was a long day of driving - and while scenic, much longer than the 4.5 hours described. Ultimately, we decided to divert from the scenic coastal route and take the highway to Casablanca to save additional hours of driving. Also, it would have been helpful for Said or Mohamed to have planned a place for us to stop for lunch as Options were very limited in this regard and ended up consuming yet more time. Despite it all, our driver was fantastic throughout.

The family running the Riad was so friendly and helpful with everything, including our 0200 am arrival. Breakfast was fresh, and we ate dinner there one night. It was extraordinary. Hotel Farah was the only let down of the trip. Supposedly this is a 5 star hotel, the forst 5 star I've ever stayed in, but it was enormously disappointing. The entrance, lobby, and common areas are all stunning and very clean. The staff was not rude, but very indifferent to my wife and I, our questions, and concerns. Our room was absolutely filthy. The carpet was stained in multiple locations. There was some type of crust on the carpet, maybe dried gum of some sort. The bathroom door had some kind of thick gunk or sludge on it. As if someone had smudged caramel or chocolate sauce on it. There were no towels in the bathroom. As we arrived and bellhop helped us with luggage into the room, the door was open and one of the housekeeping staff was using our bathroom. After seeing the state of the room we asked to be moved, and they said there was no where to move us. They offered to have housekeeping come back up and clean the room. After the second cleaning the carpet was still filthy, vacuuming doesn't get out stains, there were still bits of loose dirt and debris under the desk, and the gunk on the door was still there clearly visible. We contacted Said with Kimkim, and sent him photos of the room, who promptly reached out to the hotel to get things fixed. The hotel staff lied and told him everything was taken care of and that they moved us into an upgraded room. They did not. They never even spoke with my wife or myself about changing or upgrading rooms. The bed was clean, and we were tired as this was our last stop on our vacation, so we did not press any further to change rooms or hotels. We cleaned the room ourselves as best we could and spent most if our time in the city, only sleeping in the room. Tangier was amazing, but unfortunately the hotel was not the relaxing experience we wanted prior to our 21hrs of travel to return home. I would 100% visit Tangier again, but I would never stay in this supposed 5 star hotel again. This same review will be posted on trip advisor and I will include the photos.

Understanding cultural differences in service and friendliness, hotel still had abysmal hospitality. When the front desk staff makes eye contact with you as you walk in to check in, then leave the front desk, no words, no explanation, and take 5 minutes to return its not a good sign. This happened multiple times. Staff at the restaurant and coffee bar simply sat on their phones and didn't acknowledge us we entered the open, but completely empty eateries.

This was the smallest Riad we stayed in and we loved it. The location was central to everything although we would not have been able to find it on our own. (It was a full body scrub with a very stiff loofa).

This Riad was spectacular with very impressive design/interiors. Our room was very large with a separate bedroom and living area. (We noticed many rooms were smaller like a normal hotel room.) The breakfast was fine but they brought out trays and baskets of items, many being types of bread, and we could only eat a small fraction of the food. Seemed very wasteful.

As mentioned before, the tour was too focused on trying to sell us 'stuff'. The tile factory and leather tannery were interesting but the sales pitches after were annoying. The carpet showroom was over the top annoying; we didn't actually see anyone working on a rug! It was straight to the salesroom and after saying a dozen times that we weren't interested, they brought out more carpets. I felt so much pressure to buy that I considered a small, 20" x 30" rug until I found out it was $200 US$. I finally got mad and said 'we are done' and we walked out. The rest of the tour was hurrying through the Medina at a fairly fast pace.

Marrakech to Agafay Desert with a 'Camel ride' & Berber Lunch in the high Atlas Mountains

This was actually two separate trips: hiking in the Atlas Mountains and the Camel ride at the hotel. The hiking with a guide was a fun adventure. It was about an hour and a half and we had some great views of the mountains and a waterfall. We choose not to do the Berber Lunch but in hindsight we should have. The camel ride was just as expected, a little corning but so worth it. Got some great sunset pictures that included the camels.

I am a nervous traveller yet he managed to make the long drives a relaxing delight with his safe and assured driving.

We had a great experience. High lights would be exploring the desert and wondering the streets of Chefchaouen at sunset. If we had a little more time I would have loved to explore the high Atlas Mountains and see more of the wilderness of Morocco. Maybe next time. Tips for Marrakech and Fes medinas with guides. Do a little homework first so you know exatcly what you want to see, eat and buy. It does feel that the guides ( more so
In Fes ) are really just on a tour of things to buy ( with a commission ) so it's worth knowing what you really want to do and being firm , but sincere about it with the guides. The medinas are somewhere to get lost in but somethings that's half the fun.

Faysel was our driver for 9 of the 10 days. He was fun! He stopped as we needed rest room breaks, kept us informed regarding all the places we were heading to, had a clean and comfortable vehicle. He played Moroccan modern music for us but also was kind enough to let us play our plethora of tunes and listen to our less than perfect singing the entire trip. He never let us touch our luggage. He loaded it and unloaded it. He was a very skilled driver, able to adapt as needed to the often times busy and crazy road conditions, but also smooth enough that we fell asleep several times on our longer drives. He was very well connected and had a really good rapport with the local guides that directed our tours. It was evident from Day 1 that he loves his country and loves what he does and that type of attitude was infectious. What did we love about Morocco? Everything. The food, the cooking class, The Blue City, Fes, Meknes, The desert luxury camp, Sahara Desert camel ride, Atlas Mountains, Casablanca, Marrakech, medinas, souks, all of the massages that they scheduled for us, the personal tours, bypassing the long queues, treated like queens... Waters whenever we were thirsty, punctuality. The tour guides were top notch. We learned so much! The textiles you can buy in Morocco, OMG the quality is so good. Definitely exercise your bargaining skills and bring home beautiful heirlooms. Our second driver was Samir. He took gentle care of us. By our last few days we had several HEAVY purchases that needed to be loaded and unloaded into the car. We needed tape, and packing materials. He retrieved those for us. He also was a careful driver. Oh and let's not forget Mohamed that helped me to plan this trip and squeeze in every little whim and fancy. His hotel recommendations were above par. I needed more time but alas my work schedule wouldn't allow for more time but I definitely will be back and I will try my hardest to get Faysel as my driver again. Many thanks to Hanan my tour guide in Marrakech that made sure my custom made purchases made it to me before my departure. I loved Morocco and the friendships I formed here. Thank you Kim Kim for this ah-mazing experience.

I can’t write this review without saying a special THANK-YOU to our driver Karim without whom the trip wouldn’t have been the same. From the start by picking us at the airport Karim made sure we had a safe transfer to our first city. Karim always came with an amazing attitude each day and really showed us what Moroccan hospitality is all about. He went out of his way to help us with anything we needed. Another added mention is how he would always share with us his own cultural background stories of his home Berber. He would also provide us with extra facts along our journey which just made the whole experience even more enjoyable. I know I will definitely be requesting Karim as our driver when I come back to Morocco with my family.

I appreciated that when we walked the streets of Fes, Mohammed seemed to know eveyone. He maneuered the streets of the Medina like a pro and made sure we had a good time. Hanan knew Marakesh like the back of her hand. After 4 days of touring other parts of the country we were a bit tired, so she was able to adjust the tour to our needs - slowing down the pace and finding food for our vegetarian daughter. The planning through their online tool was easy and the team was quick to respond and provide pricing and ideas. I will definitely sign up for another tour with them. Next time the Sahara!. The experience with KimKim and Original Travels was great. This was my first experience with a guided tour. I highly recommend it, as there is so much to see and do. You need the guidance. My only recommendation for other travelers would be to add in downtime to your schedule. It was go, go , go all 8 days. Next time, I will also request two days per city. 1 is just not enough.

All the day tour guides, including Mohamed, Hanan, and Hashim, were extremely knowledgeable and helpful as well. The itinerary was written in detail for us prior to the trip, and the team ensured that we covered whatever essentials of Morocco we could within the timeframe we had. Camping in the Sahara Desert near Merzouga and Fes were our favorite parts! The only downside we experienced was our hotel in Fes which did not have hot water and a lack of advance communication about having to walk far into the medina with quite a few suitcases for one or two of the hotels. This was conveyed to the company, and they went out of their way to make alternative accommodations for us and were prompt in integrating our feedback. They were extremely friendly to interact with, almost like family, with excellent and timely service. I would definitely recommend to all my friends and family. Morocco is a beautiful country with warm, loving people, and we will be back at some point!

However, there was no hot water in the room, and we had to go upstairs to shower to receive hot water, which was not a problem for me, but my parents who are older could not climb the stairs and were forced to take cold showers. Fantastic experience! The only thing was the camel ride was two hours nonstop, which was difficult for my mom who is older and we were under the impression that it was one hour.
