Natalia Canónico

Born and raised in the amazing Buenos Aires city of Argentina, I've always loved to travel, visit new places, and experience the richness of cultural exchange.

Loving languages, I've studied English, French, and Italian. I've been working for many years as a professional guide showing off the beauty of my country to travelers from all over the world. I am now working as a travel consultant and trip designer for travelers looking for a real experience, tailor-made itineraries, and personalized service.

What places and activities do you specialize in?

"I specialize in designing custom trips for clients who want a real local experience and a unique trip around Argentina and Chile. Together, we can plan a vacation that suits your tastes and needs."

How did you get involved in travel?

"My curiosity to discover new places, cultures and my love for nature has led me to the travel industry. Many years ago I decided to study tourism as a career. From that moment until now, I still love bringing people together and encourage everybody to explore the world."

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"It is so difficult to choose just one… But I would say that visiting the Argentinean Patagonia by car was something truly amazing. The variety of landscapes, the mountains, the forest, the lakes, the ocean… and getting to the "end of the world". Experience the local flavor of the small communities living so far away from one from each other was also something really unforgettable."

It also takes you to lesser-visited destinations, including a traditional ranch in the countryside, where you'll ride horses and savor a classic Argentinian barbecue, and the bird watching paradise of the Esteros de Iberá. Learn about tango culture at a club in the capital city, kayak through pristine wetlands, feel the spray of the majestic Iguazú Falls, and so much more as you discover the gorgeous landscapes and fascinating history of Argentina.

This 17-day trip through Patagonian Argentina provides a scenic, action-packed adventure. Begin in Buenos Aires for some sightseeing, before flying to Bariloche to do some trekking, rafting, and boating in the Lake District. The grand finale is dinner and tango back in the capital city.

Elephant Seals Sleeping

Combining city tours and tango performances in Buenos Aires with treks through Tierra del Fuego National Park at the "End of the World", this trip is an excellent blend of nature and culture. The focus is on wildlife sightings, with whale-watching excursions near Peninsula Vales and visits to the largest sea lion and elephant seal colonies in the region. You'll cruise along the famous Beagle Channel and canoe rivers to reach Lapataia Bay, plus visit regional museums and walk with penguins on Martillo Island.

Puente del Inca also known as Inca's Bridge
Argentina Food & Wine - 10 Days

This tour offers the ultimate Argentinean food and wine experience while traveling through picturesque regions including Tigre Delta, Aconcagua Provincial Park, Inca's Bridge, and more. After arriving in Buenos Aires, you will try out the famous asado (meat grill), tour the bustling city, and at the end of the tour, return to Buenos Aires for a cooking lesson. In between, prepare to tour the best of Argentina's wine region in Mendoza and enjoy views of the Andes mountain range as well as visit an estancia in San Antonio de Areco for a culturally-enriching experience.

This is a joint review from Tim and Mary.

This was our first time using KimKim for travel planning service and we were pleased with the ease of planning and collaboration with Natalia Canonico and the Buenos Aires-based agency Designer Trips Argentina. We worked together over several weeks and chat correspondence to develop a plan that suited our interests, time-frame and budget. Natalia was very open to our requests and questions, while also providing valuable insights on the elements of the trip.

First, our in-country travel services were excellent and we especially appreciated Sophie from Turismo Milodon reaching out to us while we were on the Chilean side of Patagonia.

We were equally thankful that Natalia continued to check in with us while we were in Argentina. She was especially helpful when Mary suffered the blow to her head in BA.

We were also completely satisfied with the drivers, all of whom were friendly and reliable.

Our experience at Hotel NOI Blend Colchagua was very nice and had a very friendly staff, particularly Esteban. We appreciated the rooms, the restaurant and the setting.

We loved Hotel Las Torres in Patagonia-Torres Del Paine National Park . The staff was very friendly and attentive and we appreciated the number of choices for day excursions as well as the quality of the meals. Three of our guides there stood out for their enthusiasm, knowledge and friendliness: Daniel, Valentina and Sebastian. Each of them were thoughtful and open to the sort of wide-ranging conversations that can occur on long hikes. They made our time with them especially enjoyable and memorable. We also liked the bar as a place to gather after our hikes.

Our favorite hotel was EOLO just outside of El Calafate. The staff there was notably well-trained, the food and wine were exemplary, and the vibe was especially relaxed. We found Lucy, our guide on a two or so hour horseback ride from the hotel, to be especially charming.

The Perito Moreno mini-trekking excursion and viewing of the glacier from the National Park was another highlight of the trip, and we were well-attended to by the driver and private guide.

Hostería El Puma in El Chalten was nice, but the highlight there was our day-long hike up to Laguna de los Tres with Nicolas, who, like Daniel, Valentina and Sebastian in Chile, shared his knowledge of the flora, fauna and mountain enthusiastically and was genuinely gracious. He also set the pace to match our capacity.

The El Casco Art Hotel in Bariloche was our second favorite hotel, to EOLO. Both were wonderfully designed and were very comfortable. The highlight of Bariloche was the Isla Victoria Trek and lunch, guided by Carolina. Carolina was charming, informed and we loved our conversations with her as we hiked around the Isla. But the most enchanting part of the day was the lunch prepared for us by Gustavo on the Piedras Blancas Beach. The view, the food and the weather made for a cinematic experience we’ll always remember.

Our hotel in BA, the Mine, was nice, albeit with small rooms common in large cities. We enjoyed strolling the streets of Palermo neighborhood, and had a delicious steak dinner at Lo de Jesus. The Mine Hotel staff, especially Claudio, were very helpful when Mary suffered her accident.

Overall, we were overjoyed with the trip and appreciate Kim-Kim and the agencies, guides, drivers and hotels assembled for us.

One final comment about Kim-Kim’s approach. We found it less than transparent as to pricing for components of the trip, which we find contrary to its fundamental attraction (on-line, message-based communications and service). You might consider our view as the ‘Uber-ization’ of services suggests that competitors of Kim-Kim that are more transparent as to pricing may garner more customers.

Best wishes,

Tim and Mary

We had a fantastic time on our trip overall though there were some logistics that I wish had been communicated better. I had provided the hotels and general itinerary and I was pleased with my choices. The guides in El Chalten were wonderful. Some items that could have been improved upon:

- When telling us the documentation necessary to travel, it would be helpful to have been told the tipping expectations for our trip.
-Seeing a detailed price breakdown for the total cost
-Park fee for the Perito Moreno was not included in our cost and we were not told how much to bring, that should've been mentioned
-Private transfers were requested for the entire trip, but my transfer to the Perito Moreno glacier was in a large tour bus of over 50 people and the guide there did not know how/when I would meet my mother later in the day.
-Every excursion had two options, one for me and one for my mother. I assumed this would be communicated to Awasi, as when we got there, they did not know we needed to do different activities. They luckily had an extra guide one day, but if not, we would have had to choose between my mother not visiting Torres del Paine park or me skipping the iconic Base de las Torres hike. This caused several hours of miscommunication upon arrival that should have been avoided.
-Unsure if Awasi communicated with you, but the hot tubs were not working due to weather and the park was partially closed off due to a strike - we would have appreciated knowing that prior to arrival.
-Awasi requires a guide to accompany us on every activity (this was unclear to us) and the guide who I was given to do my trek with had never done the trek and therefore did not know the correct signed route up, was not knowledgeable about the weather and climate (he claimed my outfit would not be enough, turns out it was completely fine), and walked over 30m ahead or behind me most of the way. Guides should match the speed of the guest they are with.
-It would be helpful to have been told about the various exchange rates in Argentina, it was confusing to see different ones across the country.
-We requested a private driver only for four hours in Santiago and I was shocked that the quote was $750 USD. We were able to get a taxi each way for less than $60 each way. No follow up was made to try and find us an alternative.
-We would have appreciated being told about a ten hour layover in Santiago, as we were not able to check in until four hours before so that would have left us six hours with no plans and our suitcases. Had we known before, we could have planned something earlier than day before.

Stunning architecture and decor with views of Torres del Paine from every cabin. The location is further from activities than other hotels (about an hour and 15 minutes from the park) but well worth it. They also offer horseback riding in an exclusive cerro only available to guests of Awasi that was wonderfully authentic. Food and wine service were fantastic. To note, they assign one guide and one car per cabin so guests need to want to do the same activity which can be problematic due to distances from activities. Hi Arianna,
We really appreciate your time to send us this review and tell us about your overall experience during your trip. This help us to improve in the future.
It’s nice to read that you had a lovely time visiting Patagonia, although you have a few inconveniences with some of the services we provide.

- Tipping in South America is not mandatory, so it is always at the discretion of the customer, there’s no specific expectation.
- As a travel agency, we have to cover several costs and commissions, including the assistance and planification of every detail, that is why we always send a global price for the trip and not a detailed breakdown.
- We really want to apologize for the entrance fee to the park to visit the Perito Moreno glacier, as well as the transfer, which was not private. This is how it was requested, but due to an error from our provider in El Calafate was not communicated to the tour guide. We will reimburse you accordingly.
- We have forwarded your comments to Awasi lodge so they can let us know what happened. At the moment of the booking, we have sent Awasi all the information so the staff can assist you with the excursions and your stay. The full program in Awasi includes a driver and a vehicle per villa, not per person, that’s maybe something we did not explain to you properly. The strike in the Park was something very unexpected, so we could not anticipate it in time to be able to notify you.
- As for the tour in Santiago, this was a full tour including private transportation, an English-speaking guide, lunch, and two winery visits, that’s the reason for the price. This was a last-minute request, so it was difficult to find a driver available. I’m sorry, I did not follow up because I assumed that you were going to take a vehicle on your own, since you told us you did not want a tour.

Thank you again for your comments, and we hope that despite these concerns your trip was a very enjoyable experience.
All the best,

We loved our amazing trip. We had been planning it for about nine months Natalia was very helpful especially since we had some trouble deciding exactly what we wanted to do, how much time we could stay and how much we were willing to pay. We wanted to squeeze as much in as possible without feeling rushed or stressed. Natalia was very understanding and accommodating. The lodge where we stayed four nights and eight duck hunts was wonderful. The hunting was great, hospitality was top notch, the lodge itself was luxurious yet homey. The food was out of this world. Ramiro was our host and was very hospitable. We loved talking about just about everything and we learned so much from him. The staff at the lodge were so extremely friendly. We felt so pampered. My family also enjoyed seeing Buenos Aires: the city, culture, and the Tango show. It was so nice knowing that we had someone to pick us up and get us to where we needed to be. We added a short trip to Ushuaia before we started our trip from KimKim team and had a greattime, but could have used some expertise. We loved learning about Argentina culture and seeing the unique landscapes of this beautiful country. The gift sent to us when we arrived at our lovely hotel was a wonderful surprise and a great introduction to Argentina

This is the first time I’ve used a travel agent and absolutely everything ran smoothly. From our driver, Eduardo, in Buenos Aires to our guides Rodolfo in Iguazu and Ramiro in Mendoza, everything ran like clockwork. Our visit to breathtaking Iguazu Falls was fun and informative; on our second day we did a bike and kayak trip with Alejandro and Nadia, and was definitely the highlight of our time in Iguazu. In Mendoza, we had two enjoyable and informative days with Ramiro at several wineries. On our third day, we were supposed to visit Puente del Inca and do a short hike in the Andes, but motion sickness got the best of me and we had to abort those plans on our way up.

Working with Natalia to plan this trip was a pleasure, she was very responsive and provided us with a customized the trip that was exactly what we wanted. We are looking forward to working with Natalia on our next trip to Argentina.
