Natalia also arranged one of the best experiences in my lifetime, horseback riding in the middle of a remote island in Patagonia, something I know we would have never been able to find on our own. I have told anyone who is interested in visiting Argentina they must use Natalia and I hope we get the opportunity to return and work with her again!

This is our second time using Kimkim and the experience with our trip to Argentina was a bit rockier than our previous stellar experience in Portugal. Starting with the driver not picking us up when we landed in Buenos Aires to quite a few schedule schedule changes throughout, we were most concerned at the last minute notifications and lack of consultation from the local office. When we got Kimkim HQ involved, they were very responsive and worked hard with the local office to try to sort things out and also to compensate us for the problems. The activities themselves were great and the scenery in Argentina is breathtaking. The local guides were all excellent. But just a word of caution to expect spur-of-the-moment changes, at least in Argentina.

Nice visit to both small towns and the surrounding scenery was gorgeous, as were the views all along the way. Unfortunately we didn't make it to Humahuaca in time to see the priest come out of the clock as promised and also learned the 14 color mountain was a separate tour and not included with our day trip. Visiting the Argentine Waterfalls of Iguazu
Argentina

The falls are beautiful and impressive, but the crowds and our guide really detracted from sights for us. It was hard to get a scale of the falls since you are so close to them and don't see the whole expanse until the end. Our guide really rushed us through the park and didn't allow much time for pictures or watching the wildlife. He also took a literal roll-call every 30 minutes or so, so the whole tour felt very micro-managed. By far the best part of the day was the boat ride. Without the boat experience we would have been very disappointed.

Quality of Experience
It was all very rushed and we would have liked a little more freedom to explore.
Food
No food provided and what was available in the park was expensive and just ok.

The tour guide rushed us through and kept doing a roll call very frequently throughout the day. We felt treated more like irresponsible children.

The show was nice and the food was pretty good. However, there wasn't much excitement or chemistry between the dancers. You could tell it was just another day on the job for them. While the shuttle to/from the city is a nice option, we only ever used it to go into the city in the morning (never a problem regarding it being too crowded), otherwise just easier to get a taxi. Not the most convenient location from a walkability perspective (to restaurants, etc.) but the views were great. The lobby felt new but the rooms felt a bit old/outdated. Panoramic City Tour
Santiago

The tour was full of about 14 people, all of who spoke Spanish except us. So the guide gave 80% of the info in Spanish and only 20% in English. I told him I could understand Spanish if he spoke slowly, so he did slow down a bit for me, but my husband got not much out of it. Also...the tour ends by them dumping you in a tourist trap gift shop for blue stones. (None of our other tours were like this!!) We walked out and found our own way back.

We really loved Santa Rita! We learned a lot on the tour, enjoyed the beautiful garden, and really enjoyed the tasting! Concho y Toro, while super popular and known as a must-see, wasn't our favorite...it felt too corporate. Our guide Vitor was amazing and gave us a ton of additional information!

This is a joint review from Tim and Mary.

This was our first time using KimKim for travel planning service and we were pleased with the ease of planning and collaboration with Natalia Canonico and the Buenos Aires-based agency Designer Trips Argentina. We worked together over several weeks and chat correspondence to develop a plan that suited our interests, time-frame and budget. Natalia was very open to our requests and questions, while also providing valuable insights on the elements of the trip.

First, our in-country travel services were excellent and we especially appreciated Sophie from Turismo Milodon reaching out to us while we were on the Chilean side of Patagonia.

We were equally thankful that Natalia continued to check in with us while we were in Argentina. She was especially helpful when Mary suffered the blow to her head in BA.

We were also completely satisfied with the drivers, all of whom were friendly and reliable.

Our experience at Hotel NOI Blend Colchagua was very nice and had a very friendly staff, particularly Esteban. We appreciated the rooms, the restaurant and the setting.

We loved Hotel Las Torres in Patagonia-Torres Del Paine National Park . The staff was very friendly and attentive and we appreciated the number of choices for day excursions as well as the quality of the meals. Three of our guides there stood out for their enthusiasm, knowledge and friendliness: Daniel, Valentina and Sebastian. Each of them were thoughtful and open to the sort of wide-ranging conversations that can occur on long hikes. They made our time with them especially enjoyable and memorable. We also liked the bar as a place to gather after our hikes.

Our favorite hotel was EOLO just outside of El Calafate. The staff there was notably well-trained, the food and wine were exemplary, and the vibe was especially relaxed. We found Lucy, our guide on a two or so hour horseback ride from the hotel, to be especially charming.

The Perito Moreno mini-trekking excursion and viewing of the glacier from the National Park was another highlight of the trip, and we were well-attended to by the driver and private guide.

Hostería El Puma in El Chalten was nice, but the highlight there was our day-long hike up to Laguna de los Tres with Nicolas, who, like Daniel, Valentina and Sebastian in Chile, shared his knowledge of the flora, fauna and mountain enthusiastically and was genuinely gracious. He also set the pace to match our capacity.

The El Casco Art Hotel in Bariloche was our second favorite hotel, to EOLO. Both were wonderfully designed and were very comfortable. The highlight of Bariloche was the Isla Victoria Trek and lunch, guided by Carolina. Carolina was charming, informed and we loved our conversations with her as we hiked around the Isla. But the most enchanting part of the day was the lunch prepared for us by Gustavo on the Piedras Blancas Beach. The view, the food and the weather made for a cinematic experience we’ll always remember.

Our hotel in BA, the Mine, was nice, albeit with small rooms common in large cities. We enjoyed strolling the streets of Palermo neighborhood, and had a delicious steak dinner at Lo de Jesus. The Mine Hotel staff, especially Claudio, were very helpful when Mary suffered her accident.

Overall, we were overjoyed with the trip and appreciate Kim-Kim and the agencies, guides, drivers and hotels assembled for us.

One final comment about Kim-Kim’s approach. We found it less than transparent as to pricing for components of the trip, which we find contrary to its fundamental attraction (on-line, message-based communications and service). You might consider our view as the ‘Uber-ization’ of services suggests that competitors of Kim-Kim that are more transparent as to pricing may garner more customers.

Best wishes,

Tim and Mary

The excursions were well chosen and well run. Often we were on our own with a guide just for 4 of us which was fantastic, though we weren’t expecting it and I guess it was just how it worked out on the day.

The guides were very good especially Lorena, a local guide in Iguazu who was charming and knowledgeable. Dante in Puerto Madryn was also excellent - very keen to please and knowledgeable.

Alongside Iguazu, Mendoza was lovely with a highlight being a delightful lunch/ wine pairing in a spectacular location (Ojo de Agua) where we were given plenty of time to relax and enjoy it. Patagonia was a change and we did get to see some wonderful flora and fauna including whales and sea lions as well as penguins very close up.

We had a few minor a questions on the way which were dealt with promptly. Hotel choices were good and we specially liked Ivy de Selva in Iguazu. Some were a little more quirky than I had desired, but I think that goes with the territory here not the operators and nothing impacted the enjoyment of our trip.

I would use Kimkim again and plan to do so in the future.

One of our more quirky stays. The rooms were huge and unique, decorated with local artefacts. The beds were very comfortable. The air conditioning struggled to cope, but we mentioned it as we were going out and the staff said they would open the windows while the outside was cool , but shut them later and we returned to find fans had been put in the room as well. So 10/10 for doing what they could to help. Layout is curious and one of the pools was out of use, but the other was fine. Again, the shower took some working out, but we got the technique. Sweet, attentive staff and a small, homely feel.

The penguin part of this trip was really good, but because of weather the boat element to see the dolphins we were really looking forwards to was cancelled. We weren’t told and it was only after rather further in the car than expected that we realised we were on a different trip than we thought. There was some confusion and we only then came to know that we had embarked on a different trip which replaced the boat trip with a cultural experience to another town. Given the choice up front we wouldn’t have done it and would have opted to do something else, so this was rather frustrating, but having set off and driven quite far at that stage we went with it. Somewhere along the line the communications had missed us out as obviously the cancellation due to weather couldn’t be helped.

Uco Valley Wine Tour
Mendoza

The Uco Valley is pretty and worth visiting, but we did not visit the wineries we were told we were visiting. Additionally, we were to see three wineries and only visited two. It was a far drive (90 minutes) to only go to two places and it was not what we signed up for exactly.

Quality of Experience
The first winery was a nice experience, and although the second winery and lunch was nice, we did not intend to do a coursed lunch with wine pairing. That took up the entire afternoon and we were unable to see other wineries. Additionally, it was a beautiful day out and we felt stuck inside and unable to truly appreciate Uco Valley.
Food
The food was excellent, but we did not sign up for a tasting lunch and instead were hoping to visit more wineries since we originally had 4 wineries scheduled while in Uco Valley and only got to see 2.

Best of all was our Mendoza driver, Daniel, who was knowledgeable and helpful - enjoyable conversationalist while also giving us appropriate space. We added a full day in Chile as well, and Vitor took us to a fabulous winery in Casablanca, a castle seafood restaurant and a tour of the colorful Valparaiso. We had a wonderful trip - every detail was considered! It was so nice and relaxing for our first trip to South America to know that all the lodging, travel and transfers were scheduled and taken care of.

Our hotel in Palermo, Be Jardin Escondido by Coppola, was one of the favorite places we have ever stayed. The space and our room with the balcony overlooking the garden was so charming and cozy, but the true highlight were the staff - who were all so so so helpful and accomodating. I couldn't speak highly enough about the staff at Be Jardin. Also the included breakfast was so delicious and generous every time - which we mostly enjoyed from the balcony in our room.

All of our hotels were unique and comfortable. The Lares De Chacras was an absolutely beautiful hotel and property. Our room was large, comfortable and the balcony was so nice. While it wasn't quite warm enough for us to use the pool, the pool and hot tub areas were really beautiful and the patio inviting.

All of our scheduled excursions were as promised or better. The gaucho experience at Estancia El Ombú exceeded our expectations. Our host for the day was so knowledgeable about the history of the region and helped take care of every detail and introduce us to local shop so we could really feel immersed. The group at the ranch was small enough to feel intimate and like were taking part in a family dinner. (and the food was some of our favorite on the trip!)

Other highlights included the speakeasy bar tour - we never could have figured out how to get into such cool cocktail bars on our own! Also the dinner and tango show and Rojo Tango was magical and both of our bike excursions (around Buenos Aires and through Mendoza vineyards) were so much fun and a great way to feel a part of the land and the city.

Thank you for helping us discover Argentina and have a wonderful holiday. We can't wait to go back!

Be Jardin Escondido by Coppola
Buenos Aires

This was one of the favorite hotels we have ever stayed at. It is absolutely charming and cozy - you really feel like you're visiting someone's gorgeous home in Palermo with your own private garden. The staff were some of the friendliest, most helpful and accommodating hosts we've ever had. Everyone spoke great English and were always willing to help us find great local spots, answer questions or just make us a needed afternoon cappuccino. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the staff. The breakfast was always delicious and generous, it was always such a wonderful way to start our day. I appreciated the flexibility of time and ability to dine in our room - it felt so luxurious! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and would love to stay here again. Thank you for an amazing stay.

Authenticity & Character
This hotel had so much character - it felt like you were staying in the luxury garden oasis of the Coppola family. Dreamy.

The emergency number didnt always answer and no one ever returned our calls. and Oleksandra told me she doesn’t respond to emails when she isn’t working. We were not informed of the difficulties exchanging currency and the hotels were not always as described. The hotel in Santiago was in a terrible and dangerous neighborhood, and the bar and restaurant were closed for the season so we had to venture out at night to find an open restaurant. It was very scary. It would have also been nice to know we were crossing the border on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere and had to pass a Covid test to get into Chile! What if we failed the test??? Also, our driver didn’t have National Park tickets we needed (they were delivered the next day) the hotel in Puerto Natale didn’t provide a box lunch for our day long glacier tour so we had to ask for food from other travelers. The hotel in Buenos Aires was nice but located in a bad area. Finally, it took 3 tries to get Oleksandra to respond about a refund for Tango tickets we could not use because of a cancelled flight. I am grateful she got a 50% refund but she could have been more responsive.

We used KimKim because of local knowledge and we paid a lot of money to KimKim for that. Patagonia was a marvel but would have been much more enjoyable without the stress of dealing with KimKim.

- Entrance fees to the national park were not included, as was indicated in the itinerary you confirmed. However, we did include that as a complimentary service in Puerto Natales. As you confirmed the guide bring them to you on the day of the excursion.
- Box lunch: we asked the hotel in El Calafate to preaper a box lunch for you, as it was your birthday and we wanted to simplify things for you, but it was not included in Puerto Natales.
- Boarder: If there was a test, we were not aware of that - we had updated information that all the requirements were canceled starting on Sept 1st.
Hotels in Santiago and Buenos Aires - we include options we know are offering a good service and are located in good zones. We had only very good reviews on both hotels, and both of them have great reviews on TripAdvisor.

Anyway, we definitely thank you for all your comments and will take into consideration some of the points for our next bookings.

We had an outstanding trip and saw a great deal of Argentina in only 12 days and then enjoyed 3 days in Rio. On balance, we were pleased with the service and support we got from KimKim and their local agent in Buenos Aires. Patagonia was amazing!! This was the second trip I booked through KimKim (Morocco - highly recommend!). The reason for the 4 star rating versus 5 star is two-fold. If I contrast the speed and specificity of responses I received from Oleksandra vs. my other trip it was not as good. The second point is it would have been good to have a heads up on the economic challenges in Argentina. We would have brought more US cash as trying to get local currency from bank machines was a continuing challenge and the government fee on withdrawals was up to 35% of the value of the transaction. There were also a lot of places that would not accept credit cards. Knowing this would have made a big difference in how we would have prepared for the trip.

In Iguana, Laura Pomilio (our guide) was so knowledgeable about the rich history and all the ins and outs of the national parks. It felt like having a fast pass at Disney World everywhere we went. Pablo, our tour on the heart of the city bike trip, was amazing and gave us a close up look at all the major landmarks and cool neighborhoods in Buenos Aires. The asado, El Fogon restaurant, was out of this world. You get to see close up in an intimate setting how all their delicious meats are prepared and grilled before you. The Panoramic Hotel in Iguazu was lovely and a short walk from a yummy food market and many delicious restaurants and fun shops. We were only in Argentina for a week, but we packed it all in. So much more to see and explore in this beautiful country!!

Biking Buenos Aires

The four of us had our own private guide, Pablo. He was a wealth of knowledge about the city and her amazing history. Some of the places we visited were like hidden gems that only Pablo knew about. We experienced our first mate! It was yummy! The bikes were a conversation starter everywhere we went. They were made from bamboo! Very lightweight but super comfortable seats. We were all a little nervous initially riding bikes in such a busy city, but Pablo knew all the back roads and kept us safe the entire trip. This tour is a must on your first days in BA!

Visiting the Argentine Waterfalls of Iguazu
Argentina

Our personal guide, Laura, was the sweetest and most knowledgeable tour guide. Her passion for the ecology, environment and history of the rich culture of Argentina made our experience even deeper. We opted for the boat adventure on the Argentine side of the falls. Be prepared to have your breath taken away and also to get soaked!! Totally worth it. But bring a change of clothes. They give you bags to keep your belongings dry on board.

The tours themselves were excellent overall and had plenty of photo opportunities, activities, and food. The horseback riding in Mendoza and Iguazú Falls are notable highlights! We didn't visit the salt flats during the rainy season, so the five hour drive to there from Salta made it underwhelming. Unfortunately, we didn't find many other activities to do during our stays in Salta and Iguazú.

We had four main tour guides throughout this trip: Maria Laura (BA), Gabi (Mendoza), Andres (Salta), and Marcos (Iguazú). Each of them was able to offer interesting insights and commentary on each location. They were very friendly and easy to talk to. We noticed Andres wasn't as talkative as the other guides, but that might be because he was the only guide who also had to drive at the same time.

Overall, we enjoyed the trip and would love to visit again!

The lodge where we stayed four nights and eight duck hunts was wonderful. The hunting was great, hospitality was top notch, the lodge itself was luxurious yet homey. The food was out of this world. Ramiro was our host and was very hospitable. We loved talking about just about everything and we learned so much from him. The staff at the lodge were so extremely friendly. We felt so pampered. My family also enjoyed seeing Buenos Aires: the city, culture, and the Tango show. It was so nice knowing that we had someone to pick us up and get us to where we needed to be. We added a short trip to Ushuaia before we started our trip from KimKim team and had a greattime, but could have used some expertise. We loved learning about Argentina culture and seeing the unique landscapes of this beautiful country. The gift sent to us when we arrived at our lovely hotel was a wonderful surprise and a great introduction to Argentina

It took her a while to respond to my queries about the upcoming trip. But once we were in Argentina, everything was smooth. Our trips were all amazing. The hotels we stayed in were all clean and close to the towns. The drivers were always on time.. And punctuality is a big deal for us. We enjoyed Argentina so much.. Surprisingly, the walking tour in Buenos Aires was very informative and i highly recommend doing that. The tango show was one of the highlights of our trip. Please don't leave Argentina without watching the tango dinner show.. It was the best. If we come back, we want to see the rest of the country. 10 days isn't enough but it was one of our best vacations ever. And Tatiana, i will contact you again for another South American tour. :)
Thanks for a spectacularly planned tour for us. Shout out to our tour guides, Gabriel in Tierra del Fuego and Ismael in El Calafate. Both were very personable and good-looking too. Lol..

This is like a boutique hotel close to the main town area. Very clean and staff are very helpful. It is close to the main town area and yet it is located in a quiet street away from the bustle of the main street. It is within walking distance from everything. I recommend staying in this hotel. If there is one thing that needs improvement--the food served in their onsite restaurant isn't the greatest. The wait staff are good . The food itself is sub par.

Tips for future travelers

Just eat outside for lunch and dinner. Breakfast is good enough.

The lowest priced rooms in this cozy hotel are snug and I would opt for an upgrade to a bigger room. The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly and language was never an issue. very nice hotel on the shores of the lake close to town. I would have given 5 stars if our room had a better view. The indoor/outdoor pool was very nice but is probably due for renovation and the ladies bathroom in the pool area was not up to the standars of the rest of the facility. The restaurant was very good and we had 2 dinners at the hotel. The room design was beautiful but the internet connection was a bit sketchy, we shifted to various netwoks several times during our stay.

In terms of the services booked, most were great. Carlos, who did the walking tour in Buenos Aires was really good and we learned a lot. We had great guides in Ushuaia. Gabriel and Juan from Antartur who did the Laguna Esmeralda hike were fantastic. So was Andres with Latitud (Tierra del Fuego National Park tour). The Perito Moreno Glacier hike was also a major highlight of the trip.

The only difficulty was in El Chalten, where we did not have a guide. Our drivers were from Las Lengas tour company and they did not speak English so we had trouble finding out when we were getting picked up and this was a little stressful as I had to call the hotel to help coordinate for us. We also did not like 2 out of 3 of the hotels. Mirador del Lago was great. Las Hayas in Ushuaia was a pretty hotel on the outside and in the lobby and common areas, but the room was very basic. We had a ground floor room and the lights from the outside of the hotel shined directly into our room, making it hard to sleep. After requesting that they move the light, they did not follow up. Amerian Buenos Aires Park Hotel also felt a little old, had slow wi-fi, and wasn't very comfortable. We also didn't know that we were supposed to pay for national park admission fees, so it would have been nice to know this in advance.

I would recommend using Kimkim again if someone was booking a long trip like ours. Even after the small problems mentioned above, it was nice that everything was more or less taken care of.

Not knowing where to go and what to make a must see part of the trip we decided to book our trip through a Travel Agency. We found Kimkim and after reviewing other reviews we decided to go with them. I am so pleased that we did!! Our Travel Agent was Emilce who I believe is from Argentina. She did an amazing job putting together our itinerary with domestic flights, accommodations, and tours/activities. We had a 11day/10night vacation that involved 3 destinations. Emilce was very patient and in consistent communication with us as we made adjustments to our itinerary that better suited the experience that we were wanting during our special celebration trip. She really made the planning experience pleasant by always being quick to answer our questions and make the requested adjustments.
Regarding the travel experience itself: We felt well taken care of: We traveled to Buenos Aires, Argentina; Iguazú Falls, Argentina; and Rio de Janiero, Brazil. Each local point of contact was present and in consistent contact prior, during, and at the end of the local destination visit. We felt taken care of specifically by Andrea Z. & Fabio in BA; Lorienna, Junior, and Ernesto in Iguazú Falls and by Oscelea & Marsha in Rio. Our overall trip concierge was Clementina and she made sure that we had all of our trip update information for our domestic flights, Covid requirements and some suggestions for extra thing that we could do in each city. She even helped me to arrange a surprise birthday dinner for my husband. We truly enjoyed our stay in Buenos Aires, Iguazú Falls and Rio de Janiero and believe that this was made possible by the diligent, detail focused and professional skills of all staff of Kimkim and their relationship with the local tourism companies that they work with.
Peter and I have memories that we will cherish for the rest of our lives and only have great things to say about our experience on our honeymoon.

Recoleta Grand Hotel
Buenos Aires

with We visited Buenos Aires for the first part of the honeymoon and stayed at the Recoleta Grand Hotel. The staff were very helpful from check in, through meals services, through check out. As non-fluent Spanish speakers the staff were very helpful to us (speaking English). Staff helped up with necessary travel needs (getting Covid tests and getting documents printed to be able to travel). The suite that we stayed in was very clean and well decorated. We were comfortable and relaxed the entire stay. The location of the hotel is very convenient to be able to walk to many wonderful sites. (Recoletta Park, Museums, and restaurants. It is in a great location to be able to walk around and enjoy what Buenos Aires has to offer. Short taxi or public transportation ride away to get to the La Boca and a great city market that has wonderful empanadas and other treats. We definitely look forward to visiting again and will stay at the Recoleta Grand Hotel.

Tips for future travelers

Definitely suggest bringing walking shoes so that you can visit a lot of attractions that are in walking distance with out any discomfort to your feet. I also suggest getting a street facing room as where is more building development so you may not want to have to view that in the rear facing rooms at this time (March 2022).

Authenticity & Character

Staff helped up with necessary travel needs (getting Covid tests and getting documents printed to be able to travel). The suite that we stayed in was very clean and well decorated. We were comfortable and relaxed the entire stay. The hotel is located more in the National Park itself so all of our meals were at the hotel if we weren't out doing a tour for the day. The hotel is surrounded by jungle and is secluded but you still have all the amenities of a 5star hotel. the rooms are very clean and the beds are comfortable. Our bed was two beds put together. Only suggestion i would make is if it had a pillow top so that you won't feel the crease between the two beds. Our accommodations included a buffet breakfast and it was really delicious with a variety of selections to choose from. The other meals were either at the Formal restaurant or the pool tiki restaurant. We enjoyed our stay and lounged by the pool most afternoons after each day of touring the Waterfalls: both Argentina and Brazil sides of the falls.

Tips for future travelers

Book a room that may be over looking the river a little more so that you have a better view from your room or one that actually has a veranda that you can sit out on. We had a room that has a tub and shower that are separate. It was nice to soak in a nice bath!

KimKim created a once in a lifetime vacation for my family. We had three generations of my family travel to South America for the first time, exploring Buenos Aires and Patagonia, creating memories that I could have never imagined.

No one had been to South America before, and this was one of our first trips since COVID so we were all a bit anxious, but KimKim made the experience unforgettable.

Highlights of trip:
- The Argentina Experience cooking class- competing in the an empanada contest, learning how to make mate and tasting regional dishes
- Watching a beautiful tango show in an architectural gem
- Eating delicious steak and drinking excellent Malbec for nearly every meal
- Riding horses in a traditional estancia (ranch)
- Getting up close to hundreds of penguins in the wild and seeing a rare emperor penguin
- Trekking to the end of the Pan-American highway
- Sending a postcard from the southern most post office in the world
- Sailing on a catamaran though the Beagle Channel between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans and watching sealions hunt for fish

Key benefits of using this service:
- Limited planning of the day-to-day activities on my part. As before, no one in my family had been to Argentina so we did not know necessarily what to plan. We just knew that we wanted to see the highlights of Buenos Aires and go hiking in Patagonia. KimKim planned the rest. They gave us a few options for our itinerary and we went ahead with it.
- Transportation. We had scheduled transportation everywhere. Our guide was there to pick us up at the airport and we had a car take us from our hotel to all of the activities. This was critical for our large group, as otherwise we were have had to organize multiple taxis to get anywhere.
- Communication. Our Kimkim agent Emi was wonderful and quickly answered all of our questions. We organized this trip relatively late (about two months prior to departure) and she worked very quickly for us. All of guides specifically Fernando (Buenos Aires) and Ilya (Ushuaia) were a joy and expressed to us how much they love their county through more than words. I also felt like they care about my family and made small adjustments throughout the trip as needed.

Things to know about using the service:
- The money was more than I had previously paid for a trip, but it was completely worth it. Everyone in my family is already planning to go back to Argentina. All of my friends already want to know how to go on this amazing trip.

Why you go definitely go to Argentina
- All of the food we had was excellent: the lamb in Patagonia, the fish in Ushuaia and the steak in Buenos Aires- all top notch
- The country has nearly ever type of terrain. You can going tango dancing in Buenos Aires, horseback riding in the county, hiking or ski. Everything available.
- The exchange rate is very favorable for tourists. The most I paid for a bottle of wine in a restaurant was USD $5. All of wine was delicious and better than the best I’ve had in France.

Overall, I have absolutely no regrets about using this service and would happily do it all over again. Already trying to figure out my next adventure!

Even though food poisoning took us out for one day, we were overwhelmed and amazed by the beauty, food, culture, animals, and people. I hope to be back one day!

I had a great experience with Kimkim thanks to Leandro. I had to book all the details of a trip to El Chalten and El Calafate within 24 hours of take-off during high season. There was very little hotel and tour availability, and the these destinations and tours also can require a significant amount of complicated ground transportation, with required tour guide coordination to allow entry into Glacier National Park. Leandro was able to get me a private room in each location, and book me with an amazing all-day mini trekking tour of Perito Moreno Glacier, complete with crampons and mandatory tour guide for glacier trekking, along with all necessary bus transportation to the destinations. I tried booking hotels last minute from the US while at the airport but many El Chalten hotels don’t have self-booking enabled on their websites. I first left a message for Kimkim Sunday night as I was about to board my flight to Buenos Aires from JFK. By the time I landed in EZE Buenos Aires, Kimkim had connected me to Leandro and he had already worked out 90% of the details of my trip. Working with Leandro was such a relief and allowed me to enjoy my very short last minute trip stress-free and to the fullest.
Highly recommend.

El Chalten

Great place to stay. Kind of rustic rooms as are most places in Chalten. They offer great support services for hiking (helpful trail reviews and guidance/suggestions of best trails for the day given erratic weather conditions) and they offer a packed lunch service which is great if you’re on the go and don’t have time to grocery shop. Wifi is insufficient during wind storms (super frequent) and also when the hotel is full (afternoons and evenings after hiking). Wifi is ok early AM and late night when people are offline and on nights when it is not extremely windy. Very nice lobby with bar.

Hotel Raices Aconcagua
Mendoza

The hotel was located mere steps from one of the larger squares and walking distance to shopping and very good restaurants. At night, I felt very safe walking about and the hotel is just outside a bus stop, with buses running very frequently. Despite COVID, there was a decent selection of pastries and juices for breakfast, but no eggs or anything like other hotels I had stayed in. My room on the 8th floor was very clean and offered an AMAZING view, plus the floor was very quiet at night. The elevators are a little slow at times. The front desk was very attentive upon check-in and even went as far to help me make an appointment with a nearby business for a service. If in Mendoza again, I would absolutely consider them for another stay!

I was not sure about it was the S American Trip's role or the EcoIguazu's role. The guide for the Iguazu Falls on the Argentina side was not good. His didn't understand our questions very well and was not organized at all. Wasting time in making decision what we should do next. I felt so sorry for the tour members who had paid for the boat ride but no seats for them after all. I still wonder how it can happen if they have arranged the boat ride few months ago and still no room for them on the day. Other than that, I enjoyed my trip in Argentina very much. Macarena did a wonderful job of working with us to get our trip to Buenos Aires and Ushuaia just perfect for our family. While we enjoy taking tours, we like to have free time to wander. Macarena was able to give us the perfect amount of both.

Each day we had some free time to wander, or relax from our tours. We thoroughly enjoyed Laura on our BA and Tigre tours. She was informative, helpful, and delightful to spend time with. Highly recommend her.

While we would have never booked the Argentine Cooking experience or the Tango lesson and dinner, we were so happy Macarena put those in for us. It was great dining with travelers from around the globe, learning about the culture, food, mate, tango, etc. So happy they were included in our itinerary.

And while it was fun exploring BA, we thoroughly enjoyed being in Ushuaia. What a fabulous place. The highlight of our trip was the penguin boating adventure. The weather was absolutely perfect and it was wonderful seeing the landscape of Argentina and Chile.

The tour of Tiera del fuego park was great fun. And we were glad to have a personal guide. She was great! So informative, accommodating and professional. Felt like we really clicked with her.

We loved the Arakur Spa and Resort. Sitting and looking out the windows at the bay and town below was wonderful. Each afternoon we would go to the pool area and hang out. It was great fun being outdoors with the wind blowing, but warm in the pool.

There were some issues with Arakur, though. We were in Ushaia while it was very warm, and the AC did not seem to work in any of our rooms. We kept asking about it, but they told us "it is very slow." I would have preferred them to tell us "we really don't have AC, so it is best to open the windows," which we did open the windows.

Also, we ate at the lobby bar each day for lunch and service was extremely slow. I understand relaxing and not being rushed, but the service was terribly slow. Food at the lobby bar, restaurant and New Year's Eve gala was fabulous!!!

The new year's eve party was loads of fun. A great way to start the new year and decade.

Additionally, Macarena was on vacation during our trip, so Ludi stepped in and made sure we had everything we needed once we arrived in Argentina. The change from one agent to the next was seamless.

Highly recommend both!
Great time!

My only suggestion for improvement for Kim Kim and for Mery would be that they should recommend “kid friendly” itineraries and time schedules from the beginning...I really had to specifically ask for this rather than our agent suggesting things from the start. My experience using in Kim Kim for my trip in Ecuador was different in the sense that right from the start they made sure we had everything booked that was kid appropriate. No big deal this time around, as Mery was happy to help and was very flexible, and overall everything was excellent!!! Thank you!

There was a small hiccup when we got to El Calafate and nobody was there to pick us up. It seems like someone missed our reservation entirely since our hotel was also closed for business when we got there. Luckily, another hotel owned by the same company was available for us.
Tours and service after that was great. Noelia was with us during our tour to Perito Moreno. We loved she had lots of information about the area for us.
Private Service from Puerto Natales was a bit scary sometimes. A three hour long trip was done in two hours and 15 minutes. We were going FAST!
When we got to Santiago, the driver was not waiting where we were told. He didn't know he had to wait for us there. All got sorted after I called.
Hotel in Santiago was super convenient. Perfect way to finish; close to parks and restaurants.
We liked that we had a combination of full service hotels to smaller boutique ones. We liked that for the most part things were confirmed for us by Say Hueque before we had to do so.
Thank you Mery for helping us plan this amazing trip!

We had issues, but you were there, to get everything right.

Day by day we will review the trip.

Day 1: we had to call you for the car. The changed flight schedule was not known by the car rental company.
For one night it's better to stay in a different hotel or hosteria, because we had the feeling that this was a one-person room.

Day 2: beautiful stay

Day 3: we visited La Garganta del Diablo and the Humahauaca (14-colors mountain).

Day 4: beautiful stay. To buy the extra fuel is not necessary. In Antofagasta is a new fuel station.

Day 5: please mention to others that de Puna de Atacama (Dieserto du diable - seita curvas) is really spectucalar.

In Tolar Grande, maybe you have heard, we were in a beautiful hosteria (Casa Andina), the same name as you mentioned in the detailed information. Because we didn't have any addresses and this is mentioned on Internet we thought we were in the correct place to stay. This hosteria is in line with the previous hotels.
Unfortunately we had to go to a basic stay. Maria was very friendly.

In Tolar Grande there are two places for dinner. You have to step in on the time the miners go for dinner and you have to eat the daily menu.

Day 6: please skip this extra day in Tolar Grande and add this to Antofagaste.
Laguna Santa Maria is far away and the road was washed away on several places. To dangerous because of the rental car. We turned.

Day 7: we drive an awesome route (via Antofalla)

Great stay in Antofagasta (wonderful). To get fuel is easy, because there is a new fuel station.

You can add 2 more nights to stay here because there are a lot of attractions.

Day 8: Campo de Piedra Pómez is awesome.
You arrive after sunset in Tafi del Valle. It's a long trip.

Dag 9 - 11: -

Dag 12: After visiting quebrada de las conchas (amphitheater at last), make the return to Cachi. It was better to stay in Cachi for the night because the drive from Salta via Cafayate to Quebrada de las Flechas was far too long (tarde tarde).

Day 13: Yungas trekking was awesome, very friendly guide, great lunch. We prefer to stay in this village, Villa San Lorenzo instead of Salta.

Day 14: This trip was far too long. We had only a quick stop in Cafayate and in Cachi. Visiting Puente del Diablo was not possible because this point is after sunset. We arrived in San Antonio de los Cobres at 9.30pm. Driving after sunset in the mountains is heavy (don't thin at thime that something could happen).

Day 15: short drive to Salta. In the afternoon we've visited the Teléfirico.

Day 16: unfortunately the guide wasn't there. No hike for that day.

Day 17: plan this trip with a stay in Cachi.

Day 18: -

Day 19: Eclipse Day!

Day 20: as complimentary we got an extra stay in San Juan (you offer it for free on January, 24th) . This hotel was oké, but we don't recommend it to others. We had to pay for the night.

Day 21: We would advise, depending on the flight schedule, to book a hotel closer to the airport.
We had to leave at 5.30am. No breakfast at that time.

Flight Mendoza - Buenos Aires - Rio de Janeiro - Amsterdam (day +1)

While the hotels were all four star rated, Dione of them were below our expectations and well below what we had experienced with other tour operators.
Some of the tour guides were not knowledgeable and did not provide any real information. Our first guide to Petropolice was a disaster and wasted our time at the unscheduled half day stop at a beer factory.
Some of the visits were not good, such as the Conchita winery I n Santiago. We just saw the cellar and the house and no wine making process. There is a scope to improve.

They put us in a tent immediately adjacent to the large tent housing the staff for this site. The staff stayed up until one in the morning laughing loudly singing talking and keeping the exhausted travelers up. Someone needs to let them know that we are supporting their livelihood and their behavior is extremely rude and uncaring for their guests.

I had no idea of the wind conditions. Not a complaint, but wow, Puerto Natales was windy!! The hotel in El Calafate was well located, but they had some issues with the heat (too much). I think El Chaltén is a special place. The hiking was unbelievable, even though I came up about 600 Meters short of the lake on the Fitzroy trail. My sons made it. Was surprised how cheap food was in Argentina, but also how expensive it was in Chile (relatively speaking). Another thing I found interesting. The size of the area and how long it takes to get around. El Calafate to Puerto Natales...especially going down was a long haul. Again, not complaint, just an observation. We had a great time booking with Kimkim, and will definitely use them again. We would also recommend them to others, and in particular others doing the trip we did.

We had some really great calls with our specialist Martin, who did an amazing job, and helped us plan the trip that we wanted. I was very particular about our accommodation, but Martin listened to what I wanted and (patiently) found the perfect options. He also helped us maximise our time in Patagonia e.g by thinking outside the box and finding other flight options when we discovered that all the domestic flights were booked out due to the G20 (we had booked our international flights by ourselves and didn't realise). He was also so helpful with all the logistics of moving round so much in such a short time, and planning the best trip possible so we could see everything we wanted to in the time we had.

When circumstances changed (e.g unpredictable closures in Buenos Aires during our stay due to the G20) Martin was on hand to help out in person (he even came to our hotel) with other options for us - very quick thinking!

He also put small touches on our trip which were both lovely and personal and absolute lifesavers (such as arranging for us to have a shower after a hike and before a plane ride when we had checked out of our hotel) which allowed us to be comfortable and make the best use of our time.

It is one of the best trips we have ever been on (if we planned it again we would change nothing) and all the individual tours we did as part of it were amazing, in particular all the day trips and accommodation in el calafate. Special shout out as well to Hotel Lago Grey and our guide Carlos, which were absolute highlights of the trip.

We would only mention a couple of other points as feedback:
1) I would generally allow plenty of response time to queries during the planning phase (as this could sometimes take a few days or so)
2) to double check the schedules and bus tickets etc have the correct dates and hotels on them (we had to get some errors corrected to match our itinerary, but once pointed out these were speedily corrected by the travel team)
3) one transfer showed up half an hour early and then left without us, but as it was only a cab ride to the nearby bus station we were able to run there to make the bus, and
4) when we were dropped off in Torres del Paine it was later than scheduled and there was no one there to meet us, and the phone in the cafe wasn't working - luckily we found someone who spoke English who took us to talk to a ranger who was able to radio base to call our hotel, who then came to collect us.

These are all however minor points (which happen when you have so many things booked), and did not detract from how pleased we were with this absolute trip of a lifetime, and the hard work put in by Martin to help us realize this. Thank you so much Martin! 11 out of 10! We would recommend to anyone visiting Argentina and Chile.

Day 1, All day walking tour A , that night was the Argentine Experience A+.
Day 2, Navigation to Tigre C
Although interesting, I found it to be a long boat ride followed by a long and boring train ride. Guide for both days was the same. Although very knowledgeable he had no communication skills and was very boring.
Day 3, Mendoza , Wine tour and lunch. A+. This guide was A+ with good communication skills and a sense of humor.
Day 4 White water rafting A+ and I followed it up with a canopy adventure. A+. Guides overall with the expedition we're great.
Day 5 High Mountain Full day tour.
Although very scenic it was just way too long a drive. Guides stopped at MANDATORY spots for pictures, tiny walk, lunch and site for pictures. C
Day 6 Travel Day
Day 7 P Morena and National Park and boat ride. D
This was the most disappointing day of my trip. Bus was 1 hour late for pick up and I was on a bus with 37 other people. Took 45 minutes for everyone to get off and then back on bus for a picture . Boat ride was cancelled due to the weather (wind). We walked down steps to view glacier and then spend 3 1/2 hours at the refreshment house . This was absurd, watching bus load after busload of tourists coming and going. Unbelievable and touristy.
Fortunately, the guide was able to get a different boat trip to save some part of the day.
Day 8 Estancia Discovery Cristina B+
Great views and scenery. 4X4 trip was very exhilarating. B+
D
Do away with the boring museum tour and garden visit.
Ugh.
Day 8 Travel Day
Day 9 Beagle Channel boat ride and Penguin Island A+. Great overall experience.
Day 10 Trek and Rafting trip. Great guide (Pedro) A+.
Day 11 Travel Day , Flight, USA.
Here are my suggestions, take or leave them. I think they make your company a little more personal.
1. Warn your clients that they should be aware of counterfeit $ being used all over BA (taxi drivers are notorious).
2. Forworn your clients that some adventures (national park, lunches, etc.) must be paid in cash and pesos only.
3. Forworn your clients that they should make dinner reservations before they arrive in the next destination. Suggest restaurants to clients . They will appreciate it rather then go there blind.
4. Advise clients to bring their passport to trekking in Ushuaia so they can get them stampted at the end of the world.
This little item may mean something to a person.
5. Suggest places to shop and places not to shop. Do some research and it will pay dividends. Maybe even get a discount for clients at certain places.
6. Double check all info to clients as my reservations were incorrect the first night and my flight info was also incorrect. (Very confusing).

So I have exhausted my time and you are probably tired of reading all of this but I wanted to make sure you really knew my thoughts.
Hope this info may help someone in the future.
Having said all this I would consider using KimKim in the future.
All the best Billy Gluck

When I asked what semi-private actually meant, how many people would be in our group, I never received a response. When I was picked up and taken to our boat tour, there was nothing private or semi-private about it. It was a regular tour boat with what seemed like 70-100 people. We were also promised a guide. There was no guide.

The price we paid seems a bit high for a large group tour that I basically could have bought a ticket through the boat company themselves and saved money.

Finally, although we were reserved as VIP. The boat had some problem on the return trip and we had to wait to take a different boat back where there was no VIP section at all. This was a waste of money in my opinion.

Erin is excellent. She was incredibly helpful while planning our time in Patagonia, and was always available to answer any questions. While in our trip, she went above and beyond to make sure we were set (we forgot our immigration papers while in a national park, and she coordinated getting them to us). You couldn't be in better hands.

Pros: Smooth booking process, quick turnaround to our requests, professional dialogue and we got compensation (other services) or refund for all travel inconveniences. The services we did benefit from (tours, accommodation) were of good quality.
Cons: one day tour was not what we asked to book, and one day tour was cancelled due to transportation issues at one of kimkim’s partner.
Martin was very cooperative, communixative, reaponsive and went above and beyond to solve the issues in such a manner that he managed to minimise our travel discomfort.

Erin and Emily from Dittmar adventures put together a superb and well-organised itinerary for us. Every day was memorable, from our trip to Estancia La Peninsula, to the W trek, to kayaking down the Serrano River and at the foot of a glacier. We will be sure to use KimKim again, and would particularly recommend the wonderful local specialists.

Axel and Argentina on the go built an excellent trip for me! I was thankful to have them when an unexpected strike happened with the airline and they arranged alternative travel for me. In Mendoza the guides were excellent except I would not recommend doing the cooking class- my experience was it wasn’t worth the money unless you do not know how to cook. I expected more out of that tour. All the rest of the tours were great and Iguazú Falls was incredible.

Regarding the strike, I appreciate very much that you feel that we found a solution to the unexpected situation that occurred that day! Argentina on the Go team and I, did our best to solve the problem as soon as possible and taking into consideration the best possible way to solve it.

On another hand, we took into account your feedback about the cooking class tour in Mendoza and we are talking with our tour operator in Mendoza to improve certain details of this service.

We hope you keep unforgettable memories of our country, especially of the beautiful Iguazu Falls what you liked so much, and hope to welcome you again soon,

Warm regards from Buenos Aires!

The entire trip went as smoothly as possible. All transfers were on time, all guides were quite knowledgeable and gracious hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would love to return. We had many unique experiences and were grateful to see them all. The most spectacular were the Beagle Channel tour in Ushuaia, the hiking in El Chalten and the Perito Moreno Glacier tour near El Calafate.

We were on a trip to Patagonia and toured around Argentina and undertook a number of experiences. All of these were incredible and while there were some things that slightly detracted from the experience we were very pleased overall with the experience.

We happened to arrive at a time when a strike was scheduled which meant one of our days had to be moved around. This meant we stayed a day longer in El Calafate and had to find something to entertain us whilst we were there, which we managed no problem due to my interest in wildlife and the presence of a nature reserve at the edge of the town.

The strike also had a knock on effect that meant our transfer from the hotel to the bus station the next day didn't turn up and we had to very quickly jump in a taxi and head across to the bus station and similarly when we returned to El Calafate a transfer with a different company also didn't show up which meant a walk in the dark back to the hotel with no map.

We also had an issue with some cash machines which after an internet search turned out to be due to some Argentinian banks not working with European issued credit/bank cards. We found that HSBC and Santander were able to work fine and actually charged less overall for the withdrawals.

Activity 1: Canoeing on Lake Mascardi with Kawen Adventure Company.
Guides Julian and Rodrigo turned up on time and spoke good English. They talked us through the area, the wildlife and the plan for the day. After a morning of canoeing the weather ahead looked pretty bad and we made the decision to stop for lunch. We had lunch on the shore overlooking Lake Mascardi. Lunch wasn't just some sandwiches and a bottle of water. A full table was set up with a whole range of different food, pastries, salad and of course Argentinian wine. After lunch we carried on back to the start before heading back to Bariloche.

Activity 2: Horse Riding at Estancia Frugua
Another great day, however there wasn't a bi-lingual guide and my Spanish is pretty poor. We were due to go out in the morning and afternoon but for some reason we only went out in the morning. I suspect there was a reason for this but as we don't speak enough Spanish to hold a full conversation we were left in the dark a bit. We managed to communicate through most of it though. The food here was also incredible.

Activity 3: Mini Trekking Perito Moreno Glacier
Great day again. Good guides, spoke good English and a great experience overall. The trip out to the glacier was great and it just got better and better throughout the day. An experience not to be missed. Whisky on the glacier was pretty cool too.

Activity 4: Hiking in El Chalten
The hiking in El Chalten was incredible. We were fortunate that the weather turned to the good the day we arrived and stayed good for our entire stay but it is an incredible place and a must for anyone who likes the outdoors. The hikes we did were far from challenging and took in some amazing scenery. A couple of steep sections but nothing anyone who is relatively fit couldn't take on.

Activity 5: Valdes Peninsula and Whale Watching.
Again an experience not to be missed. After touring around during the morning and early afternoon seeing various wildlife, (guanaco, burrowing owls, mara, elephant seals, penguins and sea lions) we then got the chance to go whale watching and we were so close to the whales it was incredible.

Hotels
Design Suites Bariloche - Very nice hotel and restaurant. Great views across the mountains and very friendly staff.

Hainen Hotel - Nice place but obviously not meant to be overly luxurious. It was great, served our purpose and the staff were friendly and accommodating when issues occurred.

Lunajuim - Really nice hotel, very friendly staff who really made us feel welcome.

Hotel Peron - Nice hotel, although clearly a lot busier than others we had stayed in so breakfast was a lot louder. Good views across the bay. Staff spoke less English, but we managed to check in.

Hotel NH Florida - Nice hotel and polite staff. Breakfast was incredibly busy with people finding it hard to find somewhere to sit and staff seemed to be struggling to keep up with providing enough cups and glasses etc.

Other small notes -
There were a few costs that we hadn't budgeted for nothing major but may be worth making clear to people in future -
Park Entrance Fee for Canoeing (300 pesos each)
Park Entrance Fee for Mini-Trekking (600 pesos each)
Park Entrance Fee for Glacier Boat Tour (600 pesos each)
Park Entrance Fee for Whale Watching (520 pesos each)
City Tax in Bariloche (approximately 300 pesos)

Total of approximately 4,340 pesos. All of the above also needed to be in cash. Once we'd resolved the withdrawals issue it wasn't a problem. Also worth noting that the fees are much reduced for residents of Argentina.

It is worth noting that while there were a few issues we had the telephone number of our local specialist who managed to resolve the issues as they occurred and generally put our minds at rest when we were concerned.

Overall this experience was incredible and one not to be missed.

HI Nicholas,

Thank you for giving us your feedback about the trip. Is really great to know you enjoyed this experience! Unfortunately, as you said, exactly while you were traveling, an unexpected strike came up with Aerolineas Argentinas and one part of the trip had to be changed.

I'm very happy to know that being in direct contact with me was useful for you, we usually try to be in close contact with our travelers for any concern you may have during the trip.

Thank you very much again for all your comments. We hope to see you again in Argentina for more adventures!

This trip was a good experience. I'm glad we chose the northwest of Argentina because it has many beautiful things. I would have preferred to be told how long it was to get to the Parque del Rey. It was about 4 hrs just together and once there even more time in the truck to go to different places where we actually did not see the animals that are typical of the area. Few birds and a type of Dorado fish. Just that for such a long trip back and forth. I would not recommend it to anybody. The best parts of the trip were Salta, Purmamarca, Humahuaca, salinas grandes.
